Offenbach’s fantastical story of poet and painter E.T.A. Hoffmann’s quest for true love. A mechanical doll, the sinister Dr. Miracle, the famous Barcarolle in a Venetian grotto, and a muse guide the poet on this journey into the imagination. A bubbling score, wondrous settings and amazing costumes abound in Offenbach’s final magical masterpiece.
