In October, 2018, Opera North mounted a production of Derrick Wang's one-act comic opera, Scalia/Ginsburg,  to enthusiastic audiences and sold-out houses at the Briggs Opera House and the Dana Center at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.  Each performance was followed by a talk-balk with composer Derrick Wang and faculty from both Dartmouth and Saint Anselm. Additionally, Derrick Wang, Louis Burkot, and the cast of Scalia/Ginsburg offered previews of the opera to diverse audiences, including students at Lebanon High School, Hanover High School, Kimball Union Academy, and Saint Anselm College.

As composer Derrick Wang noted, "...if Scalia/Ginsburg continues to connect with audiences in these changing times — in a world where we increasingly find ourselves judging and being judged — it is a testament to the exemplary friendship of Justices Ginsburg and Scalia, whose ideological disagreements were transcended by a strong bond of mutual respect and a shared devotion to their Court and country. And so, if there is anything I hope to leave you with at the end of this performance, it is these words, sung by the title characters in their final duet: “We are different. We are one.”
