The Elixir of Love (Donizetti)

 This summer, we are proud to present Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love featuring the charming Ashley Emerson as Adina. Ms. Emerson has been described as a “vocal and dramatic delight”; this season, she makes her debut with Pittsburgh Opera as Blondchen in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail. She returns to the Metropolitan Opera for productions of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the new Baroque pastiche The Enchanted Island, and Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel. Last season, she sang Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Grand Rapids and Marie in Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis.
 ON is thrilled to announce that David Cushing will return to Opera North for the 2012 season to debut the role of Dr. Dulcamara in The Elixir of Love. David brilliantly embodied the title role in The Marriage of Figaro last summer to standing ovations every night. His career began at Opera North as a Young Artist when David sang the role of Nick Bottom in the critically acclaimed production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
